Director of AI/ML

Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary AI/ML organization, including AI engineers, data engineers, and AI architects.
- Define team structure, hire top talent, and drive performance, career development, and technical mentorship across the organization.
- Partner with business and functional stakeholders to identify high-value AI use cases and translate business needs into scalable AI solutions.
- Oversee the full AI/ML lifecycle, from problem framing and solution design to deployment, monitoring, and continuous optimization.
- Ensure AI systems are scalable, reliable, explainable, and aligned with responsible AI and MLOps best practices.
- Define KPIs and success metrics for AI initiatives, tracking business impact, ROI, and operational performance.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with product, engineering, IT, security, legal, and compliance teams to deliver compliant AI solutions.
- Communicate complex AI concepts clearly to senior and executive stakeholders, translating technical outcomes into business value.
- Lead initiatives involving advanced AI approaches such as LLMs, transformer models, RAG systems, and agentic AI architectures.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation across AI programs in regulated, enterprise-scale environments.
- Bachelorβs degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent extensive experience).
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience in AI/ML or data science roles, including delivery of production-grade AI systems.
- 3+ years of experience in people management and leading technical teams.
- Strong expertise in both classical machine learning techniques (e.g., deep learning, decision trees, random forests, statistical modeling, optimization).
- Hands-on experience with modern AI systems, including LLMs, transformer architectures, RAG systems, and agentic or autonomous AI solutions.
- Proven ability to lead, scale, and develop high-performing technical teams in complex environments.
- Experience collaborating in global, cross-functional organizations with strong communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated success delivering AI products in regulated industries such as healthcare, medtech, or similarly complex domains.
- Strong understanding of cloud-based AI/ML platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and AI system integration.
- Nice to have: advanced degree (Masterβs or PhD) in AI, ML, or related fields.
- Nice to have: experience leading multiple AI initiatives or R&D programs in parallel within enterprise environments.
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to balance technical depth and business impact.
