Forward Deployed Data Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Forward Deployed Data Engineer based in Brazil.

As a Forward Deployed Data Engineer, you will lead AI-powered data platform migration projects from initial scoping through successful customer handoff.
This high-ownership role sits at the intersection of data engineering, artificial intelligence, customer delivery, and project leadership.
You will develop a deep understanding of customer data environments and use AI-driven tooling to accelerate complex migration initiatives.
Managing multiple projects simultaneously, you will coordinate execution, resolve blockers, and keep stakeholders aligned with delivery goals.
You will work closely with engineering teams to implement migrations while helping improve the processes and playbooks used across future projects.
This is an opportunity to combine technical expertise, customer-facing communication, and strong ownership in a fast-moving software environment.

Accountabilities:

• Own 1–4 concurrent data platform migration projects from scoping and planning through execution and customer handoff.
• Serve as the primary customer contact, leading regular check-ins, communicating progress, managing expectations, and escalating risks early.
• Develop a deep understanding of each customer's existing data platform, architecture, workflows, and migration requirements.
• Configure and oversee AI-powered migration tooling to plan and execute data platform transformations efficiently.
• Partner closely with engineering teams to execute migrations, troubleshoot issues, and remove technical or operational blockers.
• Take ownership of project delivery timelines, ensuring migrations are completed successfully and according to agreed objectives.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement and scaling of product capabilities, delivery processes, and migration playbooks.

Requirements:

• 3–6 years of experience in data consulting, professional services, or a customer-facing data engineering role.
• Strong understanding of the modern data stack, including dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, orchestration tools, and common data processing patterns.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts such as stored procedures, streaming, incremental processing, and modern data platform architectures.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently in both executive discussions and technical design sessions.
• Strong ownership mentality, with the ability to proactively identify problems, communicate risks, drive solutions, and rally others when needed.
• High level of proficiency with AI tools and a demonstrated habit of using AI regularly to improve productivity and technical execution.
• Experience with legacy data stacks and technologies such as traditional ETL and stored procedures is a strong advantage.
• Previous experience working on data platform migration projects is highly desirable.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining strong attention to delivery quality and customer outcomes.
