This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Software Engineer | Grupo QuintoAndar based in Brazil.

You will operate as a senior technical authority and individual contributor shaping the architecture and long-term evolution of highly complex, large-scale systems. This role sits at the intersection of engineering strategy, system design, and cross-team alignment, with impact that extends across multiple products and domains. You will define architectural direction, simplify ambiguous technical challenges, and ensure engineering decisions scale across the organization. Working in a fast-growing, high-performance environment, you will influence both technical standards and organizational design. This position requires strong system thinking, deep distributed systems expertise, and the ability to guide engineering excellence without formal managerial authority. You will also play a key role in mentoring senior engineers and raising the overall technical bar across the organization.


Accountabilities:

  • Define and lead architectural strategy for complex, cross-team systems, ensuring long-term scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Break down highly ambiguous and unstructured technical problems into clear, executable engineering solutions with well-defined interfaces.
  • Drive engineering excellence by establishing standards, best practices, and architectural principles across multiple domains.
  • Own technical trade-offs and guide decision-making around system design, including performance, scalability, and complexity management.
  • Act as a senior technical advisor across teams, helping shape roadmaps, reduce technical risk, and improve delivery quality.
  • Mentor and influence senior and principal engineers, accelerating their growth through guidance, feedback, and technical leadership.
  • Contribute to hiring and technical evaluation processes, helping define and uphold the engineering bar for senior roles.
  • Requirements

    • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong exposure to large-scale distributed systems and high-concurrency environments.
    • Deep expertise in system architecture, distributed systems design, data consistency models, and fault-tolerant engineering practices.
    • Proven ability to make and communicate complex engineering trade-offs (e.g., scalability vs. simplicity, speed vs. reliability).
    • Strong experience designing systems that span multiple teams and remain maintainable as organizations scale.
    • Demonstrated leadership in improving engineering culture, removing organizational blockers, and enabling cross-functional collaboration.
    • Strong mentoring experience with senior engineers and technical leaders in complex environments.
    • Fluency in Portuguese and advanced English proficiency, with experience working in bilingual or global engineering contexts.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders at scale.
