Lead AI Engineer

This role is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced AI engineer who wants to lead the development of cutting-edge LLM-powered products in a fast-moving startup environment.
You will take ownership of AI initiatives from concept to production, designing architectures and building systems that transform ideas into real-world applications.
The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership across multiple projects, often in parallel, within a highly collaborative team.
You will work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to ship AI-driven solutions that solve meaningful customer problems.
A strong focus is placed on LLM-based systems, including prompt engineering, agentic workflows, and retrieval-augmented generation.
You will also contribute to shaping engineering culture, mentoring teammates, and helping scale a growing AI studio.
This is a builder’s role where curiosity, ownership, and execution speed directly influence product success.

Accountabilities:

• Lead the technical design and implementation of AI-powered products from ideation through production deployment.
• Architect scalable backend and AI systems using LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, and agent-based patterns.
• Develop and maintain evaluation frameworks to assess performance and reliability of LLM-driven applications.
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality AI solutions.
• Build internal and client-facing AI tools, including MVPs, automation systems, and productivity-enhancing applications.
• Ensure systems are production-ready, scalable, and aligned with real-world customer needs.
• Contribute to hiring processes, technical interviews, and team growth initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and help establish strong engineering practices across AI projects.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high standards of delivery and communication.

Requirements:

• Proven experience (5–8+ years) in software engineering with strong exposure to AI/ML or LLM-based systems.
• Hands-on experience building applications using LLMs, including prompt engineering, RAG, and agentic workflows.
• Experience designing and implementing evaluation frameworks for AI/LLM-powered systems.
• Strong backend development skills in Python (FastAPI or similar) or TypeScript.
• Ability to lead technical direction and take ownership of products from concept to production.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineers.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Growth mindset with strong curiosity for AI advancements and emerging research.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced, startup environments.
• Familiarity with AI tooling such as Cursor, Claude, or similar is a plus.
• Bonus: experience with fine-tuning LLMs or contributing to personal AI projects.
