This role is a high-impact legal position focused on supporting complex real estate development projects across multiple phases, including acquisition, financing, construction, and disposition. You will act as a key legal advisor, ensuring that all transactions and development activities are structured, compliant, and aligned with strategic business objectives. The position involves close collaboration with internal teams such as development, finance, and construction, as well as external stakeholders including investors, lenders, and government entities. You will handle sophisticated negotiations, draft and review high-value legal agreements, and play a central role in risk identification and mitigation. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, international environment dealing with premium real estate and hospitality projects. The role combines technical legal expertise with strategic advisory responsibilities and high autonomy.


Accountabilities:

  • Provide legal guidance across all stages of real estate development projects, including land acquisition, due diligence, permitting, financing, construction, leasing, and sales.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents such as purchase agreements, development contracts, leases, construction agreements, and loan documentation.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with real estate and construction transactions.
  • Conduct legal research on real estate regulations, compliance requirements, and evolving industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams including development, finance, and construction to support project execution.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as government agencies, lenders, investors, consultants, and partners.
  • Ensure legal strategies are aligned with business goals and support efficient project delivery.
  • Requirements:

    • Law degree from a recognized university and active bar admission in the country of residence.
    • 5+ years of experience in real estate law, with strong focus on development and transactions.
    • At least 2 years of experience in construction, real estate, or disputes-related legal matters.
    • Prior in-house experience in real estate development, ideally within luxury or large-scale projects.
    • Strong understanding of real estate development processes, regulatory frameworks, and property management.
    • Proven ability to negotiate and manage complex legal and commercial agreements.
    • Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
    • Fluency in English and Portuguese, with strong legal drafting capability in English.
    • Ability to prioritize complex issues and manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
    • (Nice to have) Dual qualification in common law jurisdictions.
