MBSE System Engineer - Architect
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a MBSE System Engineer - Architect based in Brazil.
This role offers the opportunity to shape enterprise and system architecture for a complex, mission-critical defense environment.
You will combine systems engineering, architecture, and model-based systems engineering to create traceable, scalable solutions.
The position sits within an established digital-engineering community with extensive expertise in SysML, architecture frameworks, and digital-thread practices.
You will influence architecture standards, integration strategies, technical baselines, and long-term transformation roadmaps.
The role requires close collaboration with engineering, cybersecurity, testing, functional, and program teams.
You will also communicate architectural decisions and recommendations to senior government and military stakeholders.
It is an ideal opportunity for an experienced systems engineer looking to deepen their MBSE and digital-engineering expertise.
Accountabilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of operational, business, system, data, and integration architectures using MBSE methodologies and DoDAF/UAF frameworks.
- Develop and manage SysML/UML-based system models representing requirements, workflows, interfaces, constraints, system behavior, and end-to-end mission or business threads with full traceability.
- Drive digital-engineering adoption through digital-thread practices, authoritative model repositories, configuration management, and model-driven decision support.
- Translate business, operational, and compliance requirements into scalable architectures supporting COTS/ERP implementations and enterprise integration.
- Define integration patterns, interface specifications, data exchanges, and interoperability requirements across defense, government, agency, and partner systems.
- Establish architecture governance, modeling standards, technical baselines, and design-review processes while preparing technical briefings for senior leadership.
- Collaborate with functional, engineering, cybersecurity, testing, and program teams to identify and resolve architecture gaps, risks, and cross-domain dependencies.
- Contribute to technology roadmaps, transition strategies, implementation planning, and business process reengineering initiatives.
- Support the creation of technical documentation, reports, architecture artifacts, and other deliverables derived from system models.
- Help establish and evolve digital-engineering practices within a broader systems-engineering community of practice.
- U.S. citizenship with an active DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one, with sponsorship available for eligible candidates.
- 7+ years of experience designing enterprise, system, or solution architectures for large-scale IT programs, preferably within DoD or similarly regulated and complex enterprise environments.
- Strong systems-engineering capabilities, including the ability to decompose complex systems and model structure, behavior, interfaces, data, and end-to-end mission or business threads with full traceability.
- Working proficiency with SysML/UML modeling approaches and recognized tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler/MagicDraw, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody, GENESYS, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as DoDAF or UAF.
- Strong understanding of systems architecture, integration, interoperability, digital engineering, and enterprise transformation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare architecture documentation and deliver technical briefings to executive and senior military audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Ability and motivation to continuously develop MBSE and digital-engineering capabilities.
- Experience with MBSE or digital engineering in complex system-of-systems environments is highly valued.
- Experience supporting DoD logistics, transportation, supply chain, ERP modernization, or similar large-scale transformation programs is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with COTS/ERP integration, cloud architectures, DevSecOps, zero-trust environments, AWS GovCloud, IL4/IL5, or related technologies is beneficial.
- Knowledge of DoD acquisition processes, JCIDS, and business process reengineering is a plus.
- Certifications such as OCSMP, INCOSE CSEP/ESEP, TOGAF, SAFe, AWS, or Azure architecture credentials are advantageous.
- Experience extending MBSE tools through scripting, APIs, or plugins, as well as exposure to digital twins, digital baseline management, or AI/ML integration, would be valuable.
- Opportunity to influence the architecture of a large-scale, mission-critical system supporting the movement of people and materiel across the U.S. joint force.
- Ability to shape digital-engineering strategy and modeling standards rather than simply maintaining an inherited architecture.
- Access to an established community of several hundred systems-engineering and digital-engineering practitioners.
- Active support for developing expertise in SysML, Cameo/MagicDraw, DoDAF/UAF, MBSE, and digital-engineering practices.
- Opportunity to work on complex enterprise integration, systems architecture, and digital-transformation initiatives.
- Exposure to senior government, military, engineering, cybersecurity, and program stakeholders.
- Professional growth through collaboration with an experienced digital-engineering community of practice.
- Opportunity to contribute to long-term technology roadmaps, modernization, and business transformation.
