NCCER Ironworker Instructor

This role offers an opportunity for an experienced ironworking professional to share practical industry knowledge with individuals pursuing skilled-trades training and NCCER credentials.
You will deliver structured remote instruction covering essential and advanced ironworking concepts, from structural steel and rigging to tools, equipment, and job-site safety.
The position combines hands-on trade expertise with teaching, coaching, and student support.
You will help learners understand technical concepts, prepare for assessments, and progress confidently through their training.
The role also involves tracking learner progress and maintaining accurate instructional documentation in line with established standards.
With a flexible part-time schedule, this opportunity is well suited to an experienced tradesperson who enjoys mentoring and developing the next generation of workers.
You will make a direct impact by helping students build the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue successful careers in ironworking.
Accountabilities
- Deliver engaging remote instruction aligned with NCCER Ironworking curriculum, standards, and credentialing requirements.
- Teach foundational and advanced topics including structural steel, reinforcing steel, rigging, tools, equipment, work practices, and job-site safety.
- Translate practical ironworking techniques and industry knowledge into clear, accessible instructional content.
- Prepare students for NCCER assessments and support them in meeting relevant credentialing requirements.
- Monitor and document student participation, progress, coursework completion, and training outcomes.
- Answer student questions and provide individualized coaching, clarification, and additional guidance when needed.
- Maintain accurate training records, instructional materials, and other required documentation.
- Follow established curriculum requirements, instructional procedures, and applicable training standards.
- Create a supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, skill development, and successful completion of training.
- Current or previous NCCER Instructor Certification is strongly preferred.
- Professional experience as an Ironworker, Ironworker Foreman, Superintendent, Trainer, or in a comparable skilled-trades role.
- Strong practical knowledge of structural ironworking, reinforcing steel, rigging, tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Previous experience training, mentoring, coaching, or instructing workers or apprentices is preferred.
- Ability to deliver effective instruction in a fully remote environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical and hands-on concepts clearly.
- Ability to adapt explanations and teaching approaches to different levels of learner understanding.
- Reliable availability throughout the Monday–Friday workweek.
- Strong organization and attention to detail when managing student progress and instructional documentation.
- Passion for teaching, mentoring, and helping others develop practical trade skills.
- $50.00 per hour compensation.
- Flexible, part-time schedule of up to 15 hours per week.
- Monday–Friday work schedule.
