This advanced research role is centered on driving high-impact scientific discovery within a highly technical and collaborative biomedical environment. The position involves independently designing and executing complex laboratory procedures that support orthopaedic and translational research initiatives. You will contribute directly to the generation, interpretation, and communication of high-quality scientific data that informs publications, presentations, and future research directions. Working alongside multidisciplinary research teams, you will serve as both a technical expert and a mentor, helping elevate laboratory capabilities and research rigor. Accountabilities:
- Independently design and execute complex laboratory experiments and advanced research procedures using specialized techniques and equipment in orthopaedic and biomedical research contexts.
- Develop and refine experimental protocols, contributing to study design and improving research accuracy, reproducibility, and efficiency.
- Analyze, interpret, and document scientific data, translating experimental results into actionable insights and research outputs.
- Serve as a technical expert for research staff, providing guidance on specialized methodologies and laboratory best practices.
- Train and mentor junior researchers on experimental procedures, scientific concepts, and laboratory techniques.
- Review scientific literature to remain current on advancements in research methods and integrate relevant innovations into ongoing studies.
- Support preparation of manuscripts, presentations, charts, and figures for publication and academic dissemination.
- Contribute technical input to grant proposals and funding applications as needed.
- Oversee quality control and assurance processes to ensure integrity, accuracy, and compliance of research activities.
- Recommend improvements in equipment, materials, and methodologies to enhance laboratory performance and research outcomes.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with safety standards and regulations.
- Support departmental objectives and contribute to the continuous improvement of research programs and capabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field and at least 4 years of research experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in advanced laboratory techniques, experimental design, and scientific data analysis.
- Solid understanding of biomedical research methodologies, ideally within orthopaedics, mechanical, or biomedical engineering-related fields.
- Ability to independently interpret research results and contribute to scientific publications and presentations.
- Experience mentoring or training research staff in laboratory procedures and theoretical concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document and present complex scientific findings.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety procedures, including handling of hazardous substances and compliance standards.
- Strong literature review skills and ability to apply scientific developments to ongoing research projects.
- Preferred: Master’s degree or engineering background (mechanical, biomedical, or related disciplines).
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic environment.
