This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Resident Architect based in Brazil.

This is a highly strategic, customer-facing technical role focused on helping engineering organizations adopt and scale modern observability practices in complex distributed systems. You will act as a trusted senior advisor to engineering teams and technical leaders, guiding how telemetry data is designed, structured, and operationalized to drive meaningful insights and business outcomes. The role blends deep technical expertise with strong communication and mentoring skills, requiring close collaboration with customers across engineering, SRE, and leadership functions. You will work at the intersection of product, engineering, and customer success, solving both technical and organizational challenges in high-scale environments. A key part of the role involves shaping observability strategy, improving instrumentation practices, and enabling long-term telemetry governance. This is an opportunity to influence how modern engineering teams think about and implement observability at scale.

Accountabilities

  • Lead customers in the strategic adoption of observability practices, helping them design and implement effective telemetry structures aligned with their technical and business goals.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor on telemetry schema design, event modeling, and data organization to ensure long-term queryability and usefulness.
  • Partner with Customer Success and Sales teams to communicate product value and observability strategy to both technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Provide deep expertise in sampling strategies and observability data optimization, helping customers balance cost, performance, and insight fidelity.
  • Mentor and coach engineering teams on observability best practices, including instrumentation, SRE principles, and distributed systems monitoring.
  • Advise organizations on telemetry governance, including standards for naming conventions, data ownership, and scalable observability practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical and sociotechnical challenges that require cross-functional thinking beyond traditional support structures.
  • Create high-quality technical content such as documentation, training materials, reference architectures, and thought leadership resources.
  • Act as the voice of the customer internally, sharing insights and patterns with Product and Engineering teams to influence roadmap decisions.
  • Stay current with advances in observability, distributed systems, and cloud-native technologies to continuously improve customer outcomes.
  • Requirements

    • Strong background in Software Development or Systems Operations, ideally with experience in large-scale distributed systems.
    • Deep understanding of observability concepts, including OpenTelemetry, tracing, metrics, and logging ecosystems.
    • Strong ability to design and evaluate telemetry data models, including schema design, cardinality considerations, and event structure.
    • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, along with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, or Helm.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
    • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, or .NET, with multi-language familiarity considered a plus.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineering and executive audiences.
    • Experience working directly with customers in roles such as Technical Account Management, Solutions Engineering, Consulting, or Customer Success is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of distributed tracing concepts such as sampling, context propagation, and observability visualization is highly valued.
    • Public speaking or technical content creation experience (talks, workshops, blogs) is a strong advantage.
    • Benefits

      • Equity participation in a high-growth, distributed-first organization
      • Unlimited PTO for rest and recharge
      • Remote-first culture with flexibility and autonomy
      • Home office, co-working, and internet stipends
      • Comprehensive health coverage for employees and optional dependent coverage
      • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave
      • Annual learning and development budget
      • Strong emphasis on transparency, inclusion, and engineering excellence
      • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge observability technologies at scale
      • Direct impact on how leading engineering organizations build and operate systems
