SDET Engineer – Playwright & API Automation
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SDET Engineer – Playwright & API Automation based in Brazil.
We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test to join a quality engineering team focused on building reliable, scalable automation solutions.
This role offers the opportunity to expand UI and API automation coverage across modern web applications and distributed systems.
You will contribute to high-impact testing initiatives by designing robust frameworks, improving test reliability, and accelerating delivery through automation.

Accountabilities:
As a key contributor to the quality engineering function, you will design, maintain, and improve automated testing solutions that support fast and reliable software delivery. You will collaborate across teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage, strengthen automation frameworks, and continuously optimize quality processes.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance end-to-end UI automation using Playwright and TypeScript.
- Build scalable automation frameworks using Page Object Model (POM) patterns and reusable components.
- Create and maintain API automation solutions using Python, pytest, and modern testing approaches.
- Automate REST, GraphQL, and SOAP API validation, including response verification, schema checks, and chained requests.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines and maintain reliable smoke, sanity, functional, and regression testing workflows.
- Design and manage service virtualization solutions using WireMock or similar tools to support API and microservice testing.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate test creation, code reviews, automation improvements, and coverage analysis while maintaining ownership of code quality.
- Identify automation gaps and recommend improvements to increase testing efficiency and reliability.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, collaborate with engineering teams, conduct code reviews, and contribute to automation standards and documentation.
- 5+ years of experience in software test automation as an SDET or Automation Engineer.
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript for end-to-end UI automation.
- Advanced Python skills with experience using pytest for API automation.
- Proven experience testing REST APIs, including validation of requests, responses, schemas, and workflows.
- Experience working with GraphQL APIs, including queries, mutations, variables, and schema validation.
- Working knowledge of SOAP API testing and service-based architectures.
- Experience integrating automation frameworks into Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with WireMock or similar service virtualization technologies.
- Strong understanding of Git workflows, pull requests, and version control best practices.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting abilities, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.
- Experience with tools such as Postman, Newman, JIRA, Confluence, Slack, and Agile/Scrum methodologies is preferred.
- Familiarity with AWS environments, Linux shell scripting, Java/Selenium frameworks, performance testing tools, or microservices architectures is a plus.
