Senior Backend Engineer

Accountabilities:

• Contribute to the design and evolution of backend architecture to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment and support
• Develop clean, reusable, and efficient code for web applications and backend services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver high-quality solutions
• Write and maintain unit, functional, and acceptance tests to ensure system reliability
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring system stability and performance
• Proactively suggest improvements to engineering practices, tools, and system design
• Support a strong engineering culture focused on collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software development experience in backend engineering roles
• Strong proficiency in PHP and hands-on experience with the Laravel framework
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, clean architecture, and scalable system design
• Experience working in agile environments and delivering frequent, high-quality releases
• Ability to break down complex technical problems into incremental, manageable solutions
• Strong ownership mindset with a focus on product quality and engineering excellence
• Excellent communication skills and appreciation for documentation and knowledge sharing
• Comfortable working in early-stage, fast-moving environments with evolving priorities

Nice to have:

• Experience in DevOps practices or cloud infrastructure
• Exposure to data-intensive systems (Big Data, Data Science)
• Interest or experience in Machine Learning or GIS-related systems
