Senior Backend Engineer

Accountabilities:

The Senior Backend Engineer will play a key role in designing and maintaining scalable backend systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and continuous improvement across the platform. The role requires strong technical ownership, collaboration, and the ability to deliver high-quality solutions in a dynamic environment.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and distributed systems using Python.
• Build and optimize database models and data solutions across technologies such as PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Redis.
• Design and implement APIs and backend services supporting mobile and web applications.
• Develop reliable infrastructure solutions using cloud technologies, containers, and orchestration tools.
• Own the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, architecture design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Improve system performance, security, scalability, and availability through effective engineering practices.
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and design teams to deliver complete end-to-end features.
• Contribute to technical decisions around architecture, system design, and engineering best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance to improve team capabilities.
• Participate in building a strong engineering culture focused on quality, ownership, and continuous learning.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have strong backend engineering experience with expertise in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and database design. They should be comfortable working independently, collaborating across teams, and delivering reliable solutions in a high-growth environment.

• 5–8+ years of backend engineering experience, including experience working at a senior level.
• Strong proficiency in Python with proven experience building distributed applications.
• Deep understanding of database modeling and hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and Redis.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful services, API architecture, and backend system design.
• Experience working with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS for deployment, infrastructure, and scaling.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering best practices.
• Proven ability to write clean, maintainable, and high-performance code.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in product-driven environments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Experience in fintech, credit cards, or financial technology platforms is a plus.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring tools is preferred.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a plus but not required.
