Senior Dev Ops Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer based in Mexico.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in improving infrastructure reliability, modernizing cloud environments, and enabling engineering teams to deliver software faster and more securely. You will design, automate, and maintain scalable systems while driving best practices across cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and operational processes. Working within a remote-first engineering organization, you will collaborate with developers and technical stakeholders to build resilient, high-performing platforms. This role offers the opportunity to influence infrastructure strategy, strengthen security practices, and solve complex challenges across distributed systems. You will work with modern cloud technologies, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code solutions while contributing to a culture of automation and continuous improvement. Accountabilities

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, improving, and operating cloud infrastructure while supporting engineering teams through automation, reliability improvements, and secure development practices. You will take ownership of critical systems and help evolve infrastructure toward modern, scalable architectures.

• Improve deployment reliability, reduce operational risk, and modernize cloud infrastructure toward Kubernetes-based environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure supporting production applications.
• Manage and optimize cloud services including EC2, Route53, S3, ECR, IAM, VPC, and Security Groups.
• Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions using tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
• Develop automation scripts and workflows to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
• Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD.
• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters, including production environments such as Amazon EKS.
• Monitor system performance, reliability, and availability using observability tools and incident management solutions.
• Design and maintain monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems to improve operational visibility.
• Support high-availability, distributed systems and optimize application performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to design secure and resilient architectures.
• Ensure infrastructure follows security, compliance, and data protection best practices, including SOC2 and PCI requirements.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and support occasional maintenance activities outside standard working hours when required.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced DevOps or Platform Engineer with strong cloud expertise, a security-focused mindset, and the ability to build and operate reliable systems in complex environments.

• 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, or similar infrastructure-focused role.
• Strong experience managing Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
• Strong scripting skills using languages such as Bash, Python, Ruby, or Go for automation and tooling.
• Experience writing applications or automation using high-level programming languages such as TypeScript, Python, Go, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including troubleshooting and managing production clusters.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts including VPCs, DNS, TLS, VPNs, routing, load balancing, and security groups.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Experience architecting scalable solutions from the ground up and delivering implementations under tight deadlines.
• Experience supporting secure infrastructure aligned with compliance frameworks such as PCI and SOC2.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with distributed engineering teams.

Additional experience that would be considered an advantage:

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform or Azure.
• Experience working with SQL databases and MongoDB or other NoSQL technologies.
• Experience with caching systems such as Redis.
• Experience with CDN, WAF, and DNS management using platforms such as Cloudflare.
• Experience with serverless technologies including AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Run, or Google Cloud Functions.
• Experience working with data warehouse solutions such as BigQuery or Redshift.
