- Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, standards, and operational processes.
- Provide effective remote support and ensure assigned tasks are completed or appropriately delegated.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and accommodate occasional planned schedule changes for work that must be performed outside generation hours.
- Contribute to maintaining secure, scalable, and reliable OT infrastructure across renewable energy facilities.
- 5–10+ years of experience in networking, OT engineering, IT infrastructure, or closely related technical roles; candidates with a university-level technical degree or at least 3–5 years of relevant IT network experience may also qualify.
- Proven experience supporting multi-site or distributed environments, preferably within energy, utilities, manufacturing, industrial, or other mission-critical environments.
- Strong knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including VLANs, routing, failover, redundancy, and Spanning Tree Protocol technologies such as STP, RSTP, and MSTP.
- Hands-on expertise with Fortinet/FortiGate firewalls and Palo Alto firewalls, including configuration, troubleshooting, policies, NAT, VPNs, and administration.
- Strong Cisco networking experience, including switches, routers, ACLs, and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
- Experience with site-to-site and remote-access VPNs, network segmentation, and Zero Trust concepts within OT environments.
- Ability to use packet analysis and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.
- Understanding of SCADA systems, RTACs, industrial protocols, and OT networking architectures.
- Professional experience in at least two relevant areas such as server and operating system management, network and infrastructure design, cybersecurity, remote infrastructure support, data storage and recovery, Tier 2/Tier 3 networking, telecommunications, or IT infrastructure engineering.
- Experience with regulated or standards-driven environments, with exposure to NERC CIP, NIST, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, or similar frameworks considered valuable.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, network, infrastructure, and cabling drawings.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and next-generation firewall configuration and management.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP or Palo Alto PCNSE are a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, end users, customers, peers, and senior stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
- Able to remain calm under pressure, make sound technical decisions, and solve complex problems in a rapidly changing environment.
- Demonstrated willingness to continuously learn and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Comfortable working in electrical and industrial environments and able to demonstrate appropriate electrical safety awareness.
- Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, travel throughout North America or internationally when required, and occasionally lift or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Opportunity to work at the intersection of renewable energy, OT infrastructure, SCADA, networking, and cybersecurity.
- Hands-on exposure to critical infrastructure and distributed operational environments.
- Opportunity to work with enterprise networking and security technologies from Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, and related platforms.
- Senior-level ownership of complex technical challenges and infrastructure improvements.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary Security, IT, Operations, engineering, and customer teams.
- Exposure to regulated and standards-driven environments, including NERC CIP.
- Remote support capabilities and a distributed working environment.
- Opportunities to contribute to technical standards, processes, documentation, and operational improvements.
