Software Engineer Back End PL

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer Back End PL based in Brazil.

Accountabilities:

The role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend solutions while contributing to software architecture decisions, engineering quality, and continuous improvement.

• Develop new features and evolve existing systems with a focus on quality, scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Apply strong software architecture knowledge to propose structural improvements and technical solutions.
• Build and maintain integrations between internal and external services, including APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code following engineering best practices and established technical standards.
• Create and execute automated and unit tests to ensure reliable software delivery.
• Collaborate with product, QA, frontend, and data teams to deliver complete solutions from development to production.
• Participate actively in code reviews, sharing knowledge and helping maintain high technical standards.
• Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
• Document architectures, workflows, and technical practices to strengthen knowledge sharing.
• Participate in agile ceremonies such as planning, refinement sessions, and retrospectives with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
• Support the development and growth of junior engineers through technical guidance and mentoring.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a backend engineer with solid experience developing scalable applications, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to software quality.

• Strong professional experience with backend development using Java.
• Experience working with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL and MongoDB.
• Experience handling large volumes of data and complex or high-performance queries.
• Knowledge of modular service architectures and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with automated testing, Git version control, and CI/CD processes.
• Familiarity with AI-powered development tools for code generation and productivity improvement, such as Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, Cursor, or similar solutions.
• Experience working in digital product teams and agile development environments.
• Ability to analyze and solve complex technical challenges while communicating effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience in health technology companies or technically complex environments is considered a plus.
• Knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, RDS, SQS, and Beanstalk is desirable.
• Experience with observability, monitoring practices, and SRE principles is a differentiator.
• Previous experience working with high-scale systems and large data environments is highly valued.
