Software Engineer (Lake Analytics Platform)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer (Lake Analytics Platform) based in Brazil.

As a Software Engineer on a Lake Analytics Platform team, you will help operate and enhance the infrastructure that moves governed data from durable storage to business applications, analytics, and AI.
You will work across lakehouse foundations, access control, data governance, semantic layers, and internal developer tooling.
The role focuses on extending established platform capabilities rather than defining entirely new architectures.
You will maintain integrations, self-service automation, deployment workflows, and governance features within a cloud-based analytical environment.
Operational reliability will be central to your work, including observability, incident response, troubleshooting, and on-call support.
This is a hands-on opportunity for an engineer who can quickly navigate an existing platform, contribute effectively, and leave clear documentation for a smooth transition.

Accountabilities:

• Operate and extend existing platform capabilities covering provisioning, deployment pipelines, access control, and service lifecycle management for internal tools and applications.
• Maintain and improve integrations between platform services and internal systems, including CI/CD, identity and secrets management, internal APIs, and event-driven hooks.
• Support ongoing governance initiatives within a Snowflake-based analytical environment, including access controls, data classification, and dynamic masking.
• Maintain and incrementally improve self-service automation for access provisioning, pipeline failure handling, and platform service health.
• Use established telemetry, alerting, and runbooks to diagnose and resolve platform issues while following existing operational practices.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and triage production incidents affecting supported platform services throughout the engagement.
• Conduct root cause analysis and contribute to reliable incident resolution and operational improvements.
• Document technical decisions, processes, and outstanding work clearly to enable an effective handoff at the end of the contract.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience operating cloud-based analytical data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or similar technologies.
• Experience with access control, data masking, data governance, and compute management in analytical environments, with careful consideration of elevated privileges and potential blast radius.
• Experience working with containerized applications and production deployment automation.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Buildkite, GitHub Actions, or comparable platforms.
• Experience building or operating internal platforms, developer tooling, or self-service infrastructure used by engineering teams.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, OAuth/OIDC, webhook ingestion, secrets management, and identity or SSO patterns in managed cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for developing and maintaining reliable platform services.
• Strong operational ownership, including the ability to work with existing alerts and runbooks, troubleshoot production issues, and complete root cause analyses.
• Ability to join an existing codebase or platform mid-stream and become productive quickly with limited onboarding.
• Strong written communication skills, particularly for asynchronous updates, technical documentation, and project handoffs.
• Comfortable working within established architectural and operational patterns rather than requiring extensive greenfield design ownership.
