Staff Data Engineer - Governance

This is a senior technical role at the core of a high-scale data platform powering analytics, machine learning, and real-time decision systems. You will design and evolve distributed data architectures that process billions of events with low latency and high reliability. The role requires deep expertise in streaming systems, data engineering, and platform scalability. You will act as a key technical reference, influencing architecture decisions and engineering standards across teams. Working closely with product, AI, and infrastructure groups, you will help shape next-generation data and intelligence capabilities. Accountabilities:

• Design and evolve large-scale distributed data systems ensuring high performance, scalability, and fault tolerance across streaming and batch workloads using technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Spark, and Delta Lake.
• Build and maintain real-time, low-latency data pipelines capable of processing billions of events, supporting dashboards, ML features, and intelligent applications.
• Define and implement robust data architecture patterns, including modeling, orchestration, governance, and observability best practices.
• Ensure engineering excellence through clean, maintainable code, strong testing practices, CI/CD pipelines, and active participation in code reviews and mentoring.
• Support the evolution of AI and ML infrastructure, contributing to advanced decision systems and modern AI-enabled workflows.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, AI, and engineering teams to guide technical strategy and platform adoption.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Software Engineering roles in large-scale or SaaS environments.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems and data platform design at scale.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, Flink, Spark, Delta Lake, or similar streaming and data processing technologies.
• Deep knowledge of event-driven architectures, real-time data processing, and streaming systems.
• Strong software engineering foundations including design patterns, testing, CI/CD, version control, and clean code principles.
• Proficiency in Scala, Java, or Python.
• Advanced SQL skills, including data modeling and performance optimization for analytical and transactional systems.
• Nice to have: experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP), ML Ops, feature stores, model deployment frameworks, and data governance or observability at scale.
