Tech Lead (Backend)

Accountabilities:

• Provide technical leadership while managing and mentoring a backend engineering team, fostering high performance and continuous professional growth.
• Lead the modernization of legacy Python applications by driving the transition toward scalable microservices architectures.
• Ensure platform reliability, observability, security, and operational stability across critical backend systems.
• Design and optimize solutions capable of processing high volumes of events while maintaining performance targets and service-level agreements.
• Lead migration initiatives from legacy platforms to modern APIs, ensuring smooth customer transitions and minimal operational disruption.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and balance technical trade-offs.
• Participate in architectural decisions, establish engineering best practices, and promote continuous improvements in software development processes.
• Communicate technical strategies and project updates effectively with both internal stakeholders and, when necessary, external customers.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead or Engineering Leader combining technical leadership with people management responsibilities.
• Strong professional experience developing backend applications with Python.
• Hands-on experience applying AI tools and technologies to software development workflows.
• Solid knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases and large-scale backend system design.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Good understanding of application security principles and experience working in environments with regular security assessments or penetration testing.
• Experience maintaining and modernizing both monolithic applications and microservices architectures.
• Demonstrated experience working with large-scale distributed systems, high-throughput platforms, and legacy modernization projects.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and business teams.
• Excellent prioritization, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills in fast-paced environments.
• Experience with Go is considered a plus.
