Tech Lead Engineer

This is a high-impact technical leadership role focused on shaping the architecture and engineering standards behind a next-generation blockchain and distributed finance platform. You will act as a hands-on technical authority, guiding system design while still contributing production-grade code in critical areas of the stack. Working across multiple engineering pods, you will ensure consistency, scalability, and performance across Rust, Go, and TypeScript-based systems. The role combines deep systems engineering with architectural ownership, requiring both strong execution and strategic technical vision. You will collaborate closely with engineering managers, product, and research teams to translate complex requirements into robust, scalable systems. Accountabilities:

• Own and evolve the end-to-end system architecture across backend services, infrastructure, and product surfaces, ensuring consistency, scalability, and performance across distributed systems.
• Contribute hands-on to high-impact areas of the codebase, including core services, shared libraries, and performance-critical components.
• Lead technical design reviews across engineering pods, aligning teams on system boundaries, data models, and interface design.
• Define and promote engineering best practices around code quality, testing, observability, incident response, and delivery standards.
• Mentor engineers and support the development of technical leaders while collaborating with engineering managers to grow team maturity.
• Translate product and business strategy into actionable technical plans, architectural decisions, and execution roadmaps.
• Produce clear technical documentation, including design docs, RFCs, and postmortems to ensure alignment and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

This role requires 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2+ years in a technical leadership capacity such as Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or Architect. Candidates should have strong experience designing and operating distributed, high-performance systems where latency, throughput, and reliability are critical. Deep hands-on expertise in modern systems technologies such as Rust, Go, TypeScript/Next.js, and cloud infrastructure (preferably Google Cloud) is essential.

• Proven experience designing scalable, distributed, and performance-sensitive systems
• Strong programming expertise in Rust and Go, with additional experience in TypeScript/Next.js
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and containerized environments on GCP or similar platforms
• Strong engineering judgment with the ability to balance trade-offs between speed, quality, and scalability
• Demonstrated leadership through influence, mentoring, and technical decision-making rather than formal authority
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working in remote, async-first environments across Latin America with overlap to US time zones
• Strong interest in AI-native development practices is highly valued
