We are seeking a talented and innovative P2P Node.js Engineer to join a team shaping the future of decentralized applications. In this role, you will help develop and optimize peer-to-peer networking and storage systems, building software that allows applications to scale without servers. You will work with cutting-edge Node.js technology to implement high-performance networking code, secure communication protocols, and robust distributed systems. This role is fully remote, providing the opportunity to collaborate with a globally distributed team of engineers and innovators. Your contributions will directly impact the development of peer-to-peer applications that prioritize privacy, user control, and decentralization.

Accountabilities

The P2P Node.js Engineer will:

Design, implement, and optimize peer-to-peer networking protocols and storage systems.
Develop high-performance networking code in JavaScript/Node.js, ensuring low-latency and reliable communication.
Implement custom binary protocols, serialization formats, and cryptographic primitives for secure P2P interactions.
Perform performance profiling, debugging, and optimization of distributed systems.
Collaborate with other engineers to maintain and expand the P2P technology stack.
Contribute to open-source libraries and participate in code reviews to ensure maintainable and scalable solutions.
Stay current with advancements in P2P, distributed systems, and network optimization techniques.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

Extensive knowledge of peer-to-peer protocols (Kademlia, BitTorrent, libp2p, hypercore).
Advanced JavaScript skills with experience in Node.js and high-performance networking applications.
Strong understanding of UDP and TCP/IP networking, including NAT traversal techniques.
Experience with cryptographic primitives for secure communication.
Proven ability to optimize network protocols for performance and reliability.
Experience with asynchronous I/O, performance profiling, and debugging of networked systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years building production P2P or distributed systems.
Familiarity with V8 internals, libuv, and bridging Node.js with C via native addons.
Contributions to open-source P2P projects or networking libraries.
Experience building robust systems on unreliable networks.
Knowledge of JavaScript performance optimization for low-latency applications.
