This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal Backend Engineer (.NET & PHP) in Latin America.

As a Principal Backend Engineer, you will lead backend development initiatives, driving the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust web applications. You will play a pivotal role in architecting scalable, high-performance systems and modernizing legacy codebases. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure technical excellence, enforce best practices, and mentor junior developers. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on product architecture and engineering culture while collaborating in a fully remote, Latin America-based environment. Your work will directly influence system reliability, scalability, and overall user satisfaction, while supporting the growth and development of your engineering team.

Accountabilities

Lead the backend engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining web applications using .NET and PHP.
Architect and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance systems.
Oversee migration of legacy PHP applications to modern .NET-based solutions.
Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and ensure quality deliverables.
Collaborate with front-end developers, designers, and project managers to deliver cohesive solutions.
Mentor junior engineers, promoting continuous learning and development within the team.
Provide accurate estimates and progress updates for feature development and system enhancements.

Requirements

10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in .NET development.
Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing project deliverables.
Strong expertise in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and backend architecture.
Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across distributed teams.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Advantageous: Experience with TypeScript, React.js, Vue.js, Java, Scala, Kotlin, Python, legacy system modernization, and web security/performance optimization.
